to the South. In addition to wildlife,
Namibia
has some of the most spectacular desert
ecosystems in the world. It is famous
for its stark beauty, diversity
of tribes, and is a geologist’s and naturalist’s paradise.
Namibia is one of the world’s most sparsely populated countries. Its population is 86 percent black, seven percent white and seven percent coloured (of mixed descent). Most of the people live in the northern part of the country where there is some water. Namibia lies in Southwest Africa and borders the South Atlantic Ocean to the west, Angola to the north, Zambia in the northeast, Botswana in Southeast and South Africa to the South.
The country encompasses broad geographical variations and can be divided into four regions. The dunes and desert coastal plains of Namib, the Skeleton Coast, the Kalahari Basin and the wooded bushveld of Kavango and Caprivi.
